📢 Your Conference Questions Answered!
With our upcoming 🎓 Dittas Assessor’s conference approaching, we've been receiving lots of great questions from assessors about what to expect on the day. To make things easier, we’ve put together a list of ❓ Frequently Asked Questions covering everything from 🚆 travel and ☕ refreshments to 🤝 networking opportunities and 📜 CPD options.
🔎 Here are some key things you need to know
☕ Is tea and coffee provided?
Yes, tea and coffee will be available at the start of the day and during the morning break.
🍽️ Is lunch provided?
Lunch is not provided, but there is a coffee shop on-site and numerous cafés and restaurants nearby. You are also welcome to bring your own lunch, which you can eat in the room or outside if the weather is nice.
⏰ What time does the conference start and end?
The conference begins at 9:30 AM, with speakers finishing at 4:15 PM. From 4:15 PM to 5:00 PM, there is an optional workshop for assessors to network regarding assessment practice and business.
💬 What is the purpose of the 15-minute appointments with Sarah?
These are one-on-one consultations with Sarah to discuss specific issues related to assessment or business. Spaces are limited, so early booking is advised. There will be two appointments available during the lunch break and three more from 5:00 PM onwards.
🚆 What is the nearest train station?
The nearest mainline train station is Euston, and King’s Cross is also nearby.
🚇 What is the nearest Tube station?
Warren Street, Goodge Street, Euston Square, and Russell Square are all within close proximity.
👩🏫 Is the conference suitable for tutors?
Some sessions, such as the talk on Developmental Language Disorder and Louise Selby’s session on Morph Mastery, may be valuable for tutors. However, Armande’s talk on APC Mistakes and Sarah’s session on Developments in Assessment are more relevant to assessors.
We hope to run a tutors' conference later in the year.
📚 Is the conference suitable for assessors currently in training?
Yes, absolutely!
🎓 Are any of the talks SASC-authorised?
At present, none of the talks are SASC-authorised. However, the early bird offer includes access to either the TOC SASC-authorised training or the WIAT-III-T training, SASC-authorised training which Sarah delivers remotely. These will be available once you have purchased your ticket.
🔄 Can I get a refund if I change my mind or can’t attend?
Refunds are not available. However, you may resell your ticket or transfer it to a colleague.
🤝 Can I connect with other assessors before the conference to arrange meet-ups or travel together?
Yes! A pop-up Facebook group will be created for ticket holders, where assessors can share details and coordinate meet-ups. Conference updates will also be posted there.
♿ Is there disabled access?
Yes, Birkbeck College has full disabled access, including lifts to all floors.
